Fitness From Africa wishes local community a healthier and fit festive season

LONEHILL– Viljoen said keeping up regular, daily exercise can play an important role in helping one maintain a healthy body and immune system.

As the year fast approaches its end, many people will have an opportunity to visit their families and friends to have quality time together.

Chairperson and founder of Fitness From Africa (FFA) runners club, Marcel Viljoen wished local residents a happy festive season and suggested a number of tips to keep fitter, stronger and faster post festive season.

“As we come to an end of the year 2020 that had tremendous impacts to many of us, on behalf of FFA I would like extends warm Christmas wishes to all members of the organisation and local communities. We would like to also wish everyone a prosperous year in 2021.
“They must remember that healthy body results into healthy mind. According to a new study from researchers at the University of Bath, keeping up regular, daily exercise can play an important role in helping one maintain a healthy body and immune system,” Viljoen said.

Here are some tips to keep fit:

  • Keep moving, even though you may be tempted to sit more.
  • Train more than once a day but do less than you used to do.
  • Don’t focus on things you can’t do, but rather look around at what you have at home and get creative and consistent with your equipment and opportunities for the time being.
  • Develop a maintenance mindset during festive season and summer holidays.
  • Keep your training balanced with cardio, mobility, strength and flexibility.
  • Be mindful of your nutrition, training less might require smaller portions to avoid catching up afterwards.
