Diepsloot police arrested three male suspects aged between 20 and 35 on 14 December last year with the fourth arrested the next day for the alleged murder of a 19-year-old man.
The incident is alleged to have taken place on the morning of 29 November last year.
Spokesperson of the Diepsloot police, Captain Tinyiko Mathebula, said the deceased was walking with his friends on Ingonyama Street in Ext 4 when a group about seven people started insulting them. “The deceased and his friend allegedly approached the group to ask why they were insulting them,” he said.
“A fight broke out and the deceased was allegedly hit with bricks and bottles. He was rushed to a local clinic and was declared dead on arrival.”
The suspects were linked to this crime through the account of an eyewitness. They were set to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 17 December.
