Douglasdale Police react to tip-off

DOUGLASDALE – Information on irregular activities at panel beaters led to the recovery of two trucks.

On 8 January, two suspects aged 23 and 40 were arrested for possession of a hijacked truck and contravention of the Immigration Act during a police operation.

The suspects were arrested during an intelligence-driven operation between the Douglasdale police, Johannesburg District, Johannesburg West Crime Intelligence Unit, Vehicle Identification Crime Investigation Unit, Gauteng Traffic, Metro police and Public Order Policing West Rand.

Spokesperson for Douglasdale police, Captain Mpho Tshetlhane said police received information about irregular activities at a panel-beating shop at a plot in Mostyn Park.

“During the operation, police recovered two trucks and a minibus taxi. A police preliminary investigation revealed that one truck was hijacked in Krugersdorp in December 2020, and the other truck and a minibus taxi had their engines tempered with,” she said.

Tshetlhane added that police investigations are continuing and the suspects are expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
