Man arrested for allegedly transporting alcohol

MIDRAND – The Midrand Police arrested a suspect for allegedly transporting R515 worth of alcohol.

Midrand police arrested a suspect for allegedly transporting alcohol on 13 January.

Spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station, Constable Elliott Mabulane said the arrest was made at about 2.20pm during a patrol by officers.

The suspect was driving through the Midrand area in a grey Mercedes-Benz when he was stopped and searched by patrolling officers.

Mabulane added that the car was searched and officers found beer with a value of R515.

The suspect was immediately arrested and detained at Midrand Police Station and charged with the contravention of the Disaster Management Act.

Mabulane urged the local community to stop selling and transporting alcohol during the Level 3 alcohol ban. The suspect is expected to appear in court soon. The investigation is still ongoing.
