In an effort to assist communities in need, a development company returned to Diepsloot to donate furniture to local public institutions.
Earlier this month, Nthoese Developments donated furniture to Diepsloot Secondary following a robbery that had left the school without essential furniture. The Fourways Review reported on the donation to Diepsloot Secondary in Secondary school receives much-needed furniture from development company [Week ending 5 March]. The company returned to Diepsloot on 10 March and donated chairs, tables and cabinets to Musengavhadzimu Primary School and a local Methodist church.
Assistant development manager at Nthoese, Nombulelo Roda said community-based organisations in disadvantaged communities were their priority. “We have decided to come back to Diepsloot after we’ve realised that places of worship were not getting much help from corporates though they play a vital role in community building and helping locals with different kinds of things,” explained Roda.
“Musengavhadzimu Primary was also identified as one of the schools in which we can donate furniture for admin staff and educators.” Reverend Thokwane Dithuge received donations on behalf of the Methodist Church in Diepsloot West. “We are very grateful and happy that the company remembered the church when it decided to give away the furniture. Some of our offices [do not] have not enough furniture to cater for our people when we have meetings and community projects. This furniture will go a long way for us as the church,” Dithuge said.
Principal of Musengavhadzimu Primary School, Rose Segale praised the company and described it as a champion of community development.
“We feel very honoured and privileged to receive this furniture from Nthoese Developments. Our teachers could not wait to choose their best cabinets and chairs. The school has suffered numerous burglaries that left us with insufficient furniture to cater for our staff members in the past. We were forced to beef up our security systems in order to protect the school infrastructure.”
