Shumbashaba offers free professional counselling services to members of the public
RIVERSANDS – Founder of Shumbashaba non-profit organisation, Sharon Boyce said the Covid-19 pandemic and ongoing lockdown regulations have caused many people devastating mental effects.
The lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic not only caused financial strain to many but it also put many community members under emotional strain.
Shumbashaba has embarked on a free professional counselling initiative to help members of the community in Diepsloot through these challenging times. The non-profit organisation works with children and adults in Diepsloot to develop their self-worth, gain life skills and the sense of empowerment needed to build a hopeful future.
Founder of Shumbashaba, Sharon Boyce said the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and ongoing lockdown regulations have caused many people devastating mental effects. “Shumbashaba will be offering free weekly counselling services to children, youth, and unemployed adults who are struggling with stress, depression, grief, trauma and anxiety.
These sessions are run by two mental health professionals and can be booked by appointment,” Boyce said. “We are also offering a Recovery Skills Group every Tuesday from 12pm to 1pm for people who are looking to build some skills for addiction recovery. Those interested in this programme do not need to make their bookings and there is no cost to attend.” Boyce urged members of the community to utilise these services in order to move on with their lives into the bright future.
