Awareness raised

DIEPSLOOT – Community members were encouraged to continue reporting crime in the area as police did a campaign on GBV awareness and various safety tips.

Diepsloot police officers took to the streets of Ext 2 on the corner of the R562 and R511 for a gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF) campaign on 25 May.

The campaign consisted of pamphlets being distributed to motorists and contained information on GBVF and safety tips.

Spokesperson for the station, Captain Tinyiko Mathebula said among the information given to motorists was the importance of reporting perpetrators to the police.

“The campaign sought to sensitise motorists about the scourge of GBVF cases in our communities as well as encouraging them to play an active role in the fight against GBVF,” he said.

Members of the community are encouraged to report crime by calling Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or send tip-offs on the MySAPS app which is downloadable on any smartphone.
