On 14 June, officers from Diepsloot Police Station arrested three suspects for alleged possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
Police were on patrol duties when they were notified by a tracking company of a white Kia Rio that was hijacked earlier in the morning. The vehicle was found in the Olivenhoutbosch area by the company.
According to Diepsloot police spokesperson Captain Tinyiko Mathebula, police proceeded to the location provided by the car-tracking company where the vehicle was recovered with no one inside.
“While still waiting where the hijacked vehicle was recovered, a white Audi A4, which was alleged to have been used to hijack a vehicle in Olivenhoutbosch, was seen driving past the hijacked vehicle. The police stopped and searched the vehicle.
“Upon testing the vehicle on the system, the police discovered that it was reported stolen three weeks ago at Olivenhoutbosch Police Station.”
Three occupants found in the vehicle were arrested and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
The arrested suspects are set to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.
