Security guard is arrested

A man was arrested for allegedly committing a house robbery on 15 June at a residential complex in Noordwyk.

Midrand police spokesperson Constable Eliot Mabulane said the man, who was a security guard at the complex, allegedly committed the crime at about 1.45am.

“The victim was woken up by his wife, telling him that she heard something in the house. He then went to look and found one male standing next to the television in the lounge, and then started to fight with the suspect,” added Mabulane.

Mabulane said the victim managed to throw the suspect over the balcony and the suspect was able to run away.

“The victim found a pellet gun and a small Nokia cell phone that were left behind by the suspect, soon after he discovered that his laptop was taken by the suspect.”

Mabulane concluded that the suspect was later identified by the victim at their complex’s guard room and was arrested.
