Police officers of various parts of Johannesburg West sub-district conducted operations from June 25 to 27.
The sub-districts include a number of police stations including Douglasdale, Diepsloot, Florida, Roodepoort, Linden, Honeydew and Randburg.
During the operations, 27 suspects were arrested. Caption Mpho Tshetlhane, the spokesperson for Douglasdale Police Station, said the suspects were arrested for various crimes including assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, driving under the influence, possession of unlicensed firearm, theft and contravention of the Disaster Management Act.
Nine of the suspects were arrested during an operation in Diepsloot.
The arrested suspects will appear in the Randburg and Roodepoort magistrates’ courts soon.
