Police educate residents about crime

DOUGLASDALE – Over 600 pamphlets on crime and gender-based violence were distributed to community members during a number of joint operations.


Douglasdale police, Community Policing Forum and security companies came together for a number of crime awareness initiatives in the area on September 8 and 9.

The first campaign was at a shopping centre in Lonehill Boulevard in which safety pamphlets regarding crime were distributed.

Fidelity Security alongside members of the forum were also present.

The second was held at a shopping centre in Douglasdale where gender-based violence brigades and security companies handed out pamphlets to community members in the area.

Spokesperson of the Douglasdale police, Captain Mpho Tshetlhane thanked everyone involved in the awareness campaigns.

“The purpose of the campaign was to raise awareness on common robberies, theft of and out of motor vehicles, business robberies, house robberies, hijackings, gender-based violence and crime in general,” she said.
