Douglasdale police and private security officers visited Norscot on October 6 to discuss safety tips with residents to use during the holiday season.

Tips to prevent house robbery:
- Always be alert and on the lookout for suspicious vehicles and people
- Enhance security through fitting access doors with security gates, and burglar bars on windows
- Request neighbours to keep an eye on your house when you are away for an extended period of time
- Do not open gates and doors for strangers.
- Verify a person’s details before employing them
- Check the authenticity of a contractor before allowing them access to the premises.
Tips to prevent business robbery:
- Do not keep too much money on the premises
- Be alert for suspicious customers
- Do not keep the shop open till late at night
- Avoid being alone, especially at night.
- Business owners must not open for anybody after the business has closed.
