Three men accused of murder in separate incidents were scheduled to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court thanks to the efforts of Diepsloot police detectives.
The three suspects were arrested between October 12 and 19.
According to spokesperson for Diepsloot Police Station, Captain Tinyiko Mathebula, police arrested a 29-year-old suspect for murder that was allegedly committed on October 18 in Ext 7.
“The suspect allegedly stabbed his 32-year-old brother to death following an argument. Soon after [allegedly] committing the crime, he fled to Soweto and was successfully traced and arrested,” he said.
With the help of an informer, a 46-year-old suspect on the run since last year December was arrested on October 15 in Olievenhoutbosch.
“The suspect allegedly struck his 32-year-old girlfriend with a brick on the head, [it was fatal] and he fled the scene.”
He appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court for a bail application on October 25 and was remanded in custody.
On October 21, in a separate case, a murder accused made his second appearance in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court for a bail application.
He allegedly stabbed a 17-year-old male victim to death following an altercation.
“The victim was rushed to hospital and sadly succumbed to his injuries. The suspect was arrested on October 12 after being pointed out by eyewitnesses.”
Brigadier Koena Moichela, Station Commander of Diepsloot Police Station commended the officers for effecting the arrests.
“This will go a long way in addressing serious crimes in this community. We urge detectives to intensify tracing operations and ensure that wanted suspects are brought to book,” he said.
