Douglasdale police host various awareness campaigns

DOUGLASDALE – Police and other law enforcement officials visited various places in the community to educate about ongoing safety issues.

Douglasdale police were out and about in the community at the beginning of February to educate the community on various issues.

On February 1, the police together with the Community Policing Forum (CPF), Metro police, and members of Universal Church and Sanca (South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence) held a safety talk at Witkoppen Primary School.

Captain Mpho Tshetlhane, spokesperson for the police said the purpose of the talk with the learners was to address challenges which included bullying, drugs and substance abuse, dangerous weapons, depression and peer pressure.

On February 2, the police, the CPF and Thompson Security hosted a safety talk for domestic workers at Unity College.
“The purpose was to address safety challenges that include domestic violence, sexual offences, human trafficking, home safety and the danger of walking alone in open spaces,” she said.
