Man abandons homeless life after 12 years living in the streets of Fourways

FOURWAYS – Founder of Daily Bread said Makganoto has proved that he was serious about changing his life for the better.

After living many years in the streets of Fourways, 32-year-old Lebogang Makganoto has decided to stand up and fight for a better life.

He said losing both his parents at a very young age and his uncle in 2008 made his life miserable.

“When my parents died I moved from Phalaborwa to live with my uncle in Alexandra. In 2008 my uncle died and I was forced to leave the place we lived in because I could not afford it.”

Last year he read about the Daily Bread’s programme that helps empower youngsters with skills in Fourways Review, and he decided to visit the non-profit organisation’s offices to seek help.

“Daily Bread introduced me to their skills development programme and helped me with groceries. I took some of the money I raised while I was begging in the street to rent a shack in Diepsloot,” Makganoto added.

Founder of Daily Bread Charmaine McGinley said Makganoto has proved that he was serious about changing his life for the better. “We advised Lebogang to participate in our skills development programme to help him pick up his life.
“He learned how to cook and prepare food and completed the programme. He is now ready for employment and to work as a cook.”
