Young musician hopes to be an inspiration.

The young Musician is dedicated and passionate about his craft.

Ofitlhile Matau is a 24-year-old musician from Fourways.
He is commonly known by his stage name Goof Young and is a hip-hop artist and a producer who studied sound engineering.

“To my memory, I was eight years old when I started recording music,” he said. The young artist is passionate about music and is certain about the path that he has chosen. Goof Young was inspired by his late brother who listened to a lot of hip-hop growing up. “He owned a stereo enabling him to religiously blast Slim Shady and 50 cent’s music.”

It hasn’t, however, always been smooth sailing, and he said for the past 15 years it had been rather difficult to get his turn to be heard.

He released his second official project earlier this year, a mixtape, Starring Mixtape, and is currently working on his first LP which will follow a series of two other mixtapes that he plans to release this year.

“I’d have to say my greatest achievement through music thus far cannot be measured in material successes. What I value the most is my consistent growth in my musical abilities and most importantly, that I’m still in love with music just as much and even more than when I started.”

Matau said he was currently planning to showcase his music at schools where he would be able to connect with younger people. He hopes to present himself as an inspiration for the younger generation to carry on believing in themselves.

His music can be streamed on more than 290 music platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify.
