The chairperson of Sunninghill Ratepayers Association, Linda Gildenhuys has commended security officers operating in the area for their swift response that led to the arrest of suspects that were driving a car that was reported stolen.
Gildenhuys said the security company’s control room received an alarm alert from one of Sunninghill community licence plate recognition cameras of a vehicle that had been listed as stolen in the South African Police Service database on April 7.
“The vehicle was identified entering Sunninghill Gardens via Tudor Road entrance. Controllers immediately dispatched the [secutiry company] vehicles while checking other cameras to see where the vehicle went,” Gildenhuys said.
She added that it took less than three minutes for security patrollers to locate the suspected vehicle.
“The suspected vehicle was located and security special operation vehicles blocked suspects at Kitui Road and suspects were apprehended and handed over to the SAPS.”
Sandton Police Station spokesperson Bheki Xulu could not confirm if the police arrest was made when asked for comment.
