Mental health initiative coming to Fourways
Candace Bester hopes to empower those who are struggling mentally and emotionally.
Candace Bester, life coach and founder of Grit, a programme which empowers people with life skills, has joined forces with professional photographer Richard van Zyl to start a mental health initiative in Fourways.
Feelgood Fourways is a two-hour workshop where people get to meet like-minded people who are also on their journeys of personal growth and transformation. The initiative was started after Bester realised how many people were struggling emotionally in the community.
She hopes to empower people with easy-to-implement tools that they can implement in their lives.
“My wish is that people find it in them to take that first step and book their ticket, once they show up on the day they have won 80% of the battle,” said Bester.
“People are generally quite resilient, they just keep going, however, with all the knocks that they have taken, fewer are able to bounce back and they can’t understand why they are struggling so much.”
She hopes to give the people attending the workshops a renewed sense of hope for the future and a zest for life along with a new set of skills to thrive, not just cope. The workshops will start on September 3 and will take place every second Saturday from 09:00 till 11:00 at DC Coffee Fourways.
