Dainfern school raise R15 000 for cancer awareness

Staff and learners of a local school geared up in their best pink gear to run for cancer awareness and raised about R15 000.

Dainfern College saw 100 entries for the ILoveBoobies Cancer Awareness run/walk that had high school learners and staff members make their way across the campus.
High school sports administrator Renaldo Meyer thanked the attendees for their support at the event as it was the first time they had the ILoveBoobies organisation involved.

“We got involved to raise funds that assist women in underprivileged areas of South Africa by educating them and providing breast cancer screening and testing services,” he said.
“As a Dainfern College community, we understand that breast cancer, just like any other cancer, is a reality that most of our staff, learners or parents have either faced or come close to in their lives. We have done the Dare Devils Run in support of prostate cancer.”

While the run was only open to learners and staff at the school, Meyer said there was the aim of opening the run to the rest of the community next time. “We are planning to have more events like this one that makes a difference in our communities in the future,” he said.
