Riding for a good cause in the 947 Joburg Ride
The end goal was to ensure that everyone crosses the finish line.
The 947-cycle race around Johannesburg left a lot of people amazed. Having a waterpoint on Witkoppen Road gave a lot of Fourways residents the opportunity to cheer for their loved ones and give them words of motivation. “We were so happy that one of the water points was in Fourways.
This gave us a chance to see Alex up close and give him a pat on the back and tell him to keep going,” said a family member who came out to support Alex. Meanwhile, Thembi Ntlanganiso said, “They must be feeling the heat out there and I hope they are all able to get to the finish line because they are doing this for a good cause.”
Families that came to support their family members, cheered for other cyclists too. The vibe of the whole ride was supportive and ensured that everyone was motivated to make it to the finish line. Matsimela Ladies Clinics motivated each other at every water point by getting off their bikes and dancing as a form of stretching. They said the Witkoppen waterpoint was really fun and the music was the bomb.
