Witkoppen Clinic hosts Christmas party for orphans and vulnerable children

The children got gifts, pizza and cupcakes during their celebration.

Out of the goodness of their hearts and to help orphaned and vulnerable children, Witkoppen Clinic hosted a Christmas party on their premises on November 25.

This was to assist children in need during the holiday season. With three centres located in Diepsloot, Musawawa and Lion Park, the clinic was able to identify the children and they found a way of making their Christmas a better one this year.

Christmas is the most important and Entruevest Impilo Foundation helped Witkoppen clinic achieve that.

A total of 791 children walked away with a Christmas present as well as a pizza. When Fourways Review attended the Christmas party, to our surprise the gifts were huge and thoughtful, and all the children had smiles on their faces. The children were so happy, and it was visible.

Sipho Mahlangu, Khanyisa Ngesi, Sbonga Shange and Sandra Marx were so happy to donate the gifts.

According to business development assistant -corporate and government liaison, Sbonga Shange, the Christmas party is meant to make the children feel like they are not left out. It is meant to remind them that they are special too. “Our presents were very thoughtful and with the help of our local schools as well as Entruevest Impilo Foundation, who sponsored the event it was all a success,” said Shage. He also explained how this is an annual event.

The team was ready to tackle the day and ensure the children were full of smiles.

Shange explained to the Review how money was allocated to them, and they chose to buy the children worthwhile gifts. “They include things like toothbrushes, sanitary towels, toothpaste, clothing and more. With the different backgrounds the children are from, the clinic ensured that they all get gifts that will help them both in and out of their homes. They enjoyed themselves and were treated to cupcakes. It was a moment of joy that the children look forward to every year.

While speaking to one of the children, he mentioned how he didn’t expect the gesture to be so big and was so grateful to have these people in his life. The clinic’s centres help children with homework and meals on a daily basis. This is where they help the children stay off the streets and away from crime and substance abuse. The centres often help families with food parcels. Parents sign up and they get assisted at these centres. The centres help children from 0 to 18 and anyone from a disadvantaged background is welcome.
