Campaign give ‘The Silver Lining’ to Class of 2024
Fourways Crossing rewrites the story of the less fortunate through initiative.
This year marks the ‘silver year’ for Fourways Crossing which is why the shopping centre launched a campaign that will see the less fortunate of the Class of 2024 glammed up at their matric dance.
Marketing manager of the shopping centre Danis Manjate said the campaign was called The Silver Lining and was very dear to their mission and vision.
“The initiative is to help the less fortunate Class of 2024 to look amazing for their matric dance. We wanted to highlight that every cloud has a silver lining hence the name behind the campaign The Silver Lining.”

hands it over.
Manjate said many young girls and boys missed out on the opportunity to have a special day due to various circumstances.
The campaign has reached great milestones. “We have managed to raise sponsorships from our tenants worth over R20 000 for the 20 selected boys and girls. The sponsorship consisted of shoes from Kingsmead Shoes and makeovers from Ambience Ethnic Hair.

“We haven’t done this campaign before; however, we have received feedback from our shoppers that they would like the campaign to run for a longer period and during a less busy time.”
She explained how the learners had been selected. The centre had partnered with Lorna Potgieter who runs The Matric Dance Project, an NPO that she has been running for more than 20 years. Potgieter had built a relationship with schools near the Fourways area, and they let her know which learners needed assistance.
“We have collected 12 dresses thus far; the target was 20 dresses and suits. We are still urging shoppers to donate their gently worn dresses and suits to the management offices until we reach our target.”
The shopping centre closed the year 2023 with a massive 25th Birthday in October, “We gave away prizes worth R120 000.”
