Leandri has always been a teacher at heart
Leandri Jordan, a teacher at Junior Colleges Sunninghill, has earned the nickname "sweetheart teacher" in just one year.
Every time the sweet words ‘Good morning teacher’ are heard by Leandri Jordon when she steps into the classroom, her heart swells with pride and joy.
Jordon teaches maths, languages, and life skills at Junior Colleges Sunninghill. She chose a career in Early Childhood Development (ECD), studying at SA Childcare in Pretoria, due to her love for children.
“I was inspired to become a teacher by my teachers who were kind, patient, and made learning fun. They encouraged me to do my best and helped me when I needed it. I also love working with kids and seeing them grow and learn new things. Knowing that I can be effective in their lives and help them reach their full potential motivates me to be the best teacher I can be.
“I like children and seeing how they grow and learn. It’s kind of like watching a tiny plant grow into a big tree. I felt happy being around young children and wanted to help them learn new things. So, I thought studying ECD would be a good fit for me.”
Jordon has only recently joined the school but has already won the hearts of adoring parents; she is known as the ‘sweetheart teacher’.
Seeing learners learn and grow every day is what Jordon enjoys the most about her profession.
“I love being able to help them learn and succeed. It is like planting seeds in a garden and watching them grow into beautiful flowers. Every day is different, and I enjoy coming to work knowing that I can make a positive difference in my students’ lives. When my class greets me with a cheerful ‘Good morning, teacher,’ it fills my heart with warmth and happiness. It is like getting a big hug from all of them at once.”
