Jeanne amped with her horse ahead of festival

Jeanne Korber reflects on her journey and being at the top of the ranks ahead of the Toyota Easter Festival.

Jeanne Korber is rated the top showjumper in the country and she could not be more proud of herself.

She started the horse jumping season in the recent 334 Sporthorse Grand Prix.

She said all her horses had a great show with her top horse, Callaho Lexington, winning the Grand Prix. Korber feels proud because this was their first big win.

“My young grey mare, Pretty Woman M, also had a fantastic start to the season being placed in the same Grand Prix which was a step up for her. My ‘baby’ horse Callaho Pica’s Boy jumped all clears with places in the 1.35m classes so all in all, a very good start to the year.”

At the upcoming Toyota Easter Festival on April 1, she said Callaho Lexington will compete in the 1.50m class.

“We acquired Lexington in 2015. He truly is a wonderful horse with the most incredible temperament, huge scope and bravery. Last year we came sixth in the Toyota 1.50m SA Outdoor Grand Prix, so this year our goal is to be on the podium.”

Callaho Pica’s Boy will compete in the 1.35m classes. He competed with his mother, Picadilly Z, very successfully in the 1.35m/1.40m classes.

Korber will compete against her husband which she finds exciting.

“It is quite amazing to compete on equal ground with men and women of all ages. We are very lucky to be in the same industry together as it is a very time-consuming sport. We are both very passionate about our horses and show jumping. It doubles up on my nerves as I am rooting for him and myself. The only problem is that when we are in a jump-off together, I mostly come off second as he is just too fast and smooth.”
