Rand Park High School’s first-team hockey boys spent the weekend at the North-West University (NWU) Hockey Clinic.
The NWU Potchefstroom campus hosted a thrilling long weekend of hockey which was a valuable experience for the team. All 16 boys from Rand Park participated in the intensive training sessions conducted by the university. The training was aimed to enhance their skills and boost confidence ahead of the upcoming season.

Under the guidance of experienced coaches and mentors, the players had the opportunity to showcase their talents and compete against other schools participating in the 2024 senior camp.
The school stepped onto the field with renewed style, thanks to their recent uniform sponsorship. Alan Wilke, the principal of Rand Park High School, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting the significance of their achievements. “We would like to extend our gratitude to the team’s sponsor, Graeme Hamilton-Reid of Chas Everitt Randpark Ridge, for the generous sponsorship he provided to fund the boys’ playing kit.”

Throughout the event, the team engaged in a total of seven matches. Impressively, Rand Park High School emerged victorious in six out of their seven matches, securing wins against formidable opponents including Hoërskool Wesvalia, EG Jansen, Potchefstroom Gimnasium, Cambridge Academy, Aliwal Noord, and Hoërskool Secunda. Their sole draw came against HTS Witbank, showcasing their resilience and determination throughout the tournament.
The first team captain Siba Ntlangeni reflected on the clinic saying, “The tour to Potch was amazing. The team learned a lot and grew more because of all the coaching that was provided at the clinic and I am proud of my team.”
