Riverside Manor Retirement Estate celebrates residents’ 90+ years with music, storytelling, and love
This bi-annual tradition strengthens bonds among residents, families, and staff, making Riverside Manor a vibrant and supportive senior living community.
Riverside Manor Retirement Estate in Sunninghill hosted a heartwarming celebration on November 6, to honour its residents who have reached, or are approaching, the milestone of living for 90 years.

This special event, organised by the management team and lifestyle committee, was hosted to reflect the estate’s dedication to enhancing the well-being of all its residents.
According to Deon Steyn, director of Riverside Manor Retirement Estate, “This celebration embodies our commitment to enhancing the well-being of all residents, regardless of their care level.”
He said the event serves as a celebration of their values of inclusion and vitality.
The day was filled with music from the 40s and 50s, lively performances from talented staff, and heartfelt moments where residents shared stories from their lives. Some residents shared memories stretching back to the Second World War, providing a unique glimpse into the past.
Delicious snacks, sparkling wine, and a variety of beverages added to the festive spirit.

Careful attention was given to accommodate dietary needs and mobility requirements to ensure every resident could participate. Riverside’s attentive nursing staff played a vital role in making the event accessible to all.
“It’s essential for us to create an environment where everyone feels included and valued,” Steyn said. “Our goal is to foster a sense of community and vitality. This bi-annual tradition will deepen connections among residents, families, and staff.
