Live Real Estate aims to collect 200 pairs of shoes for underprivileged kids
Live Real Estates goal is helping tiny feet take big steps with a shoe drive, aiming to collect over 200 pairs for underprivileged kids.

Every child deserves a chance to thrive, and a good pair of shoes can be the first step towards a brighter future. That is why Live Real Estate in Pineslopes is launching a School Shoe Drive initiative to collect over 200 pairs of shoes for underprivileged children aged 5–12.
Cecily West, the director of the estate agency, said when the estate celebrated its fifth birthday in November 2024, she decided that, in December and going forward, they would be giving back to the community.

“Especially our underprivileged children, as they could best benefit with a positive start to the year. Rather than donating funds to other established fundraising organisations we are hoping to start a relationship with a school where we can regularly make a difference and be involved. I also wanted to get my team involved, we will be hands on in this project and we will be visiting the chosen school to ensure that we have covered the relevant age groups.”
She said this initiative started as an in-house team effort which, with the input from their agents, went viral quite quickly. Currently they have close to 150 shoes and West said they are hoping to end the project with well over 200 pairs.
“We chose to focus on junior school children, those starting school and those in a preparatory school. There was no specific reason, but rather being quite specific to enable us to have a focus rather than a hit and miss approach. We are focusing on the traditional boys and girls school shoes, most of the purchases have been done at Pep Stores and Pick n Pay Clothing. We have also had an enormous amount of [money] donations, whereby I am doing the shopping to purchase the shoes.”

The agency identified a school in need in Diepsloot, and are still in talks with them.
“Our team will be visiting the school and handing out the shoes. This is our first big solo initiative. We have added our support to other companies fundraising in the past. The reason why we have chosen a school in our area is that we would like to build an ongoing relationship with them and offer continued support.”
When asked about plans to make the School Shoe Drive an ongoing or annual initiative, West agreed with pride.
“Supporting a charity for young children resonates deeply with me because it reflects our natural desire to see all children have opportunities and resources to enable them to thrive. Young children who are on the receiving end of kindness early on will hopefully pass it on, contributing to a better future for all children.”
Any donated shoes can be dropped off at the agency in Pineslopes Office Park, and those who wish to make a cash donation can contact Lauren-Kate Fletcher on 079 698 3957.
