Junxion team dominates Malta’s Gymstars competition

Local heroes from Junxion Gymnastics brought home a haul of medals from the prestigious 40th International Women's Artistic Gymnastics Gymstars Competition in Malta, proving South African talent shines brightly on the global stage.

Junxion Gymnastics recently made waves on the international stage, with their talented gymnasts delivering an outstanding performance at the 40th International Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Gymstars Competition in Malta.

The event, held from July 9 to 13, 2025, saw the Junxion team compete against 30 clubs from across the globe, proving that Fourways talent can indeed stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the world’s best.

The team, led by dedicated coaches Nikki Stubbs and Tess Golden, consisted of an inspiring group of gymnasts: Phoebe Miles, Rebecca Walden, Reese Bradford, Reeve Avice du Buisson, and Tamsin Schrimpton.

Each athlete performed exceptionally, surpassing all expectations and showcasing their absolute best on the mat.

“We were thrilled with our results. It’s incredibly exciting to see that we can compete at an international level and that our gymnasts are truly among the best,” said Michelle Johnson of
Junxion Gymnastics.

Beyond the impressive medals and rankings, the team also relished their time in Malta, making the experience both successful and enjoyable.

The club’s dedication and the gymnasts’ hard work paid off handsomely with a remarkable set of results:

Tamsin was a standout, clinching 1st place overall in Category D (16+ years). Her triumphs included 1st on bar, 1st on floor, and 2nd on beam.

Reeve also achieved significant success in Category D (16+ years), securing 3rd place overall. She earned individual medals for 2nd on bar and 3rd on vault.

The Junxion Team collectively earned a commendable 12th place overall in Category D (ages 13 to 15 years), with Reese contributing to their success by winning an individual 2nd on vault.
