Key player Thabo Siziba reflected on their achievement: “This win was crucial. It showed we can overcome any challenge and achieve our goal of winning.”
Teammate Zammy Moyo shared his thoughts during the championship’s decisive moments: “Leading up to the final, it felt like nobody believed in us. I knew we had to keep the team united. When we were up by one goal in the final moments, I understood the backline, and I would decide the game’s outcome. My only thought was that we needed to give 110% and hold nothing back.”

Keabetswe Modise, named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, explained the team’s motivation: “What kept us going was our unity. When we felt the trophy slipping away, one phrase sustained us: ‘Don’t count us out’. Our teammate, Ethan Fish, first said it when everyone doubted us. Ultimately, we showed up for each other and brought the trophy home to Fourways.”
The team received a hero’s welcome during the school’s Monday assembly, on July 28, where they were presented with their winners’ medals. This triumph has not only inspired the entire school community; it has established a new benchmark for future teams – to persevere, compete fiercely, and maintain belief regardless of the circumstances.
The victory further enhances Fourways High’s growing sports legacy while delivering a powerful message to all competitors: Never underestimate their determination.
