Craigavon circle potholes repaired after 6-month valve leak fixed

After JW repaired a valve leak, Johannesburg Roads Agency has now stepped in to repair potholes at the Poplar and Campbell roads circle.

Craigavon residents are relieved after Johannesburg Water (JW) repaired a valve leak that had plagued the Poplar and Campbell roads circle for more than six months, and Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) repaired the resulting potholes on September 22.

The leak had left the intersection waterlogged and filled with craters, forcing drivers into dangerous manoeuvres.

Ward 115 councillor Mark van der Merwe confirmed that JW fixed the valve on September 12. Shortly after, JRA began work to patch the damaged road surface. “It was a long process, but eventually JRA stepped in and repaired the potholes, first with a temporary solution, and then permanently two days later.”

While residents are happy with the repairs, Van der Merwe said the next step is to advocate for a full resurfacing of the circle, once JW’s sewer project in the area is completed later this year.
