Year of major transformation sees British International Preparatory School rebrand to Waterford International
A new era begins for British International Preparatory, as they transform into Waterford International, joining the ThriveEd network and preparing to launch its high school phase in 2026.
2025 has marked a defining chapter for one of Fourways’ leading schools.
British International Preparatory School officially transitioned to Waterford International, following its integration into the ThriveEd network of schools.
The change, announced earlier this year, represents more than a new name, according to Dr Garth Thompson, the executive head at the now Waterford International. He said it signals a refreshed vision and a renewed sense of purpose for the growing institution.

“This rebrand is not just about a new identity; it’s about aligning ourselves with a forward-thinking educational network that shares our passion for nurturing globally minded learners, who are ready to thrive in a changing world.”
While the school now carries a new name and emblem, he said it continues to offer the Cambridge curriculum, maintaining its strong focus on academic excellence, critical thinking, and international relevance.
Thompson said the response from the school community has been overwhelmingly positive. “Our staff, parents, and students have embraced this transition with excitement. There’s a real sense of momentum and optimism on campus.”

As part of its transformation, the school is preparing for a series of campus upgrades in the coming weeks. These include modernised interiors, enhanced landscaping, and redesigned playscapes, all aimed at creating a learning environment that reflects the excellence of its academic offering.
Now part of ThriveEd, a national network comprising 10 schools and more than 9 000 learners, Waterford International joins a growing community of institutions united by a vision for education that equips every child to learn, lead, and thrive.
Looking ahead, Waterford International is set to reach another major milestone in 2026, with the introduction of its high school phase.
“This next step is incredibly exciting for us. It strengthens our position as a leading Cambridge school, and ensures that our learners can continue their educational journey with us, in a space that inspires confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning.”
