Peltier intersection traffic light reinstated and approved as safe by JRA

The Johannesburg Roads Agency has confirmed that the traffic light at Peltier Drive and Waterfall Drive has been realigned, reinstated, and approved as safe for public use after a series of repairs and adjustments.

Bertha Peters-Scheepers of the Johannesburg Roads Agency has confirmed that the repairs, realignment, and reinstatement of the traffic light at the intersection of Peltier Drive and Waterfall Drive in Sunninghill has been completed and approved to be safe for public use.

This follows a series of events that began with multiple pipe bursts along Peltier Drive, which required excavation work by Johannesburg Water.

During the initial reinstatement, the traffic light was installed facing the wrong direction, prompting concerns from residents and the Sunninghill Ratepayers Association.

On March 8, Fourways Review found that the traffic light had been repositioned to face the correct direction, but was not working, and the excavation had been left open.

On March 9, JRA filled the excavation but removed the traffic light. On March 11, the agency came and put back the traffic light confirmed by Peters-Scheepers.

“JRA apologises for the delay, but now the intersection has been resolved and is safe for public use.” When asked why the traffic light had been removed, she said.

“The removal was due to technical and wiring issues, which have now been addressed and resolved.”

Residents and motorists can now use the intersection with confidence that the signal is correctly aligned and fully operational.
