Tempo Luxury apologises for shooting that occured over the weekend

Patrons had to stop partying and run for cover when an individual opened fire at a Sunninghill restaurant.

Tempo Luxury restaurant in Sunnighill has issued a letter of apology after a shooting that saw business tycoon, Sphamandla Mabonga being shot in his ribs in the early hours of January 20 and receiving medical treatment, according to reports.

In a media statement, Tempo said the shooting occurred after their security denied entry to an individual who came to the establishment carrying firearms – something that is against their policies.

“This led to a verbal dispute. Regrettably, the incident rapidly escalated and resulted in the wounding of two of our staff members as well as the said individual.”

Tempo said that the incident occurred outside their premises, despite several videos where patrons can be seen running and taking cover under the tables of the restaurant. They added, “None of our patrons inside the establishment were harmed.”

“As the Tempo family, we would like to extend our heartfelt apologies to the victims affected by this incident. We are fully committed to supporting them during their recovery. Additional apologies are extended to our patrons who witnessed this unfortunate incident. ”

“We are cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities in their investigation and we are taking immediate steps to review and enhance our security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.”
