Junior College Fourways reflects on a year of growth and community in 2024

Bianca Durrant, principal of Junior College Fourways, extended warm Christmas and New Year’s wishes to the residents of Fourways.

As 2024 comes to a close, Junior College Fourways celebrates a year filled with remarkable achievements, events, and community spirit which brought students, staff, and families closer together.

From academics to the arts, the school year showcased an unwavering commitment to education and personal development.

The year kicked off with enthusiasm at a parent orientation event, where returning families were warmly welcomed and new families were introduced to the Junior College community.

Among the highlights was the grand opening of the highly anticipated swimming pool. A facility expected to enhance physical education and recreational activities for students.

“Our commitment to fostering a comprehensive educational environment continues to drive our mission. In 2024, we focused on empowering our students academically and personally, providing them with the skills they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom,” said Bianca Durrant, the school principal.

Throughout the year, the school placed significant emphasis on academics and personal growth. Various workshops addressing study skills and mindfulness were held, reinforcing Junior College Fourways’ dedication to cultivating a well-rounded educational experience.

The school also celebrated memorable events, celebrated each other, and participated in sports competitions.

In addition to celebrating accomplishments, Junior College Fourways continued its strong tradition of community service. Students participated in charity drives, including a sandwich drive for Mandela Day at the Witkoppen Clinic.

A standout initiative was the annual market day, where students practiced entrepreneurial skills by managing booths and learning real-world business concepts.

“Giving back to the community is integral to our values as a school. The Santa shoebox collection, in partnership with the Witkoppen Clinic initiative, illustrated our students’ compassion and commitment to uplifting the less fortunate during the holiday season.”

As the school looks ahead to 2025, the achievements of the past year lay a solid foundation for future growth and development.

Durrant expressed optimism for the upcoming year stating, “We are excited about the new projects and initiatives awaiting us in 2025. This year has prepared us well to continue fostering excellence in education and community engagement.

“With heartfelt gratitude, Junior College Fourways wishes its parents, students, staff, and the wider community a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, as we prepare for another promising year ahead.”
