Another 100% pass for Beaulieu College’s matriculants

Beaulieu College has achieved 100% pass rate and the school community couldn’t be more proud.

Sphesihle Mdleleni and Jenna Frost are the crème de la crème of Beaulieu College in Kyalami after obtaining eight distinctions respectively in last year’s IEB matric exams.

Sphesihle who said he is undecided about where to study mechatronics, at the University of Cape Town or Stellenbosch University, said his friends, family and teachers were always there for him to assist him to get his good grades.

“He went abroad this year for a dance competition, and he did well. We are so proud of him. My little boy is a very respectful person and a good listener. When you tell him to do something, he does it wholeheartedly,” said Sphesihle’s grandmother, Nobuhle Mdleleni, who was floating on cloud nine.

“I passed really well. I am proud of myself. I am shocked at these results. I enjoyed IT the most but I did well in mathematics,” said Sphesihle.

Frost is always proud of her achievements. She said she has been provisionally accepted to study medicine at the University of Cape Town.

“I chose medicine because I just wanted to study something that combines my academic strength with my love for working and helping people.”

Jorge Ruiz-Mesa, the deputy head battled to contain his joy as he said a 100% pass rate is the schools tradition since its inception.

He said the teachers have done a fantastic job and for that, he is grateful.

“We are always optimistic that we have done enough with the pupils. In the parameters, we have actually produced the best results for the college this year.”

When asked how they do it, Ruiz-Mesa said the answer is simple — long hours of hard work.

“You know those extra lessons, Saturday lessons, Winter School? Our teachers do not stop finding ways to try and get the best out of the learners, even those who fall below average.”

He said they have had 105 matriculants out of which two did not complete their examinations due to health results for one, and the other representing South Africa at the Olympics.

“So we got the results for 103 pupils and 99% achieved a bachelor’s degree pass.”
