Fourways Gardens Estate set the record straight on viral robbery video
The robbery which was caught on camera by a another shocked motorists passing by, took place outside the estate just a day before Valentine's day in broad daylight.
Fourways Gardens Estate has issued a statement addressing a viral video circulating on social media, which appears to show an armed robbery taking place at the entrance of the estate.
Netizens were left puzzled as to how it all happened since the estate has 24/7 highly recommended and armed security services.
In the video, the suspects can be seen gaining access to a sleek black G-Wagon, while one accomplice stands watch on the opposite side of the car, with a firearm. Their intentions remain unclear as to what they were aiming to steal from the luxurious vehicle.
They quickly make their escape in a black C200 Mercedes. The incident occurred on February 13, at approximately 13:30.

She said, however, further investigation and analysis of video footage revealed that the perpetrators targeted a specific individual carrying particular items.

“We wish to clarify and emphasise that due to the high-traffic nature of this area outside of the estate, armed security personnel made a strategic decision not to engage the suspects with force, so as to prevent any potential harm to members of the public who may well have been caught in the crossfire. This was not an off-the-cuff decision, and is one which our security service provider regularly practices as a live scenario.”
Marlin said the investigation is ongoing, with 24/7 Security working closely with the South African Police Service (SAPS) to pursue all leads.
