Douglasdale and Diepkloof police arrest 364 suspects during Operation Shanela
The suspects are said to appear in various magistrates for their crimes, including possession of unlicensed firearms.
The Johannesburg Acting District Commissioner, Brigadier Kwena Moichela applauded the police members and other law enforcement agencies for ensuring the safety of communities.
This was after the police apprehended about 364 suspects for various crimes during Operation Shanela in the Douglasdale and Diepkloof policing precincts on February 13.
The police collaborated with several law enforcement agencies, including the Department of Home Affairs, JMPD, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, private security firms, the City of Johannesburg, Community Policing Forums, and local patrollers.

Suspects were apprehended for crimes such as the possession of unlicensed firearms and illegal drugs, fraud, illegal immigrants, and the selling of liquor without a licence.
About 298 suspects were arrested for contact, contact-related, property and other serious crimes across the district.
“The arrested suspects will appear in various magistrates’ courts soon,” said Lieutenant Colonel Mpho Tshetlhane, corporate communication coordinator from the Johannesburg District.
