WATCH: Craigavon residents left reeling as boundary wall collapses in heavy rains
Residents of Woodland complex are left exposed after a boundary wall collapsed during rainfall.
Craigavon residents have been left in shock after the boundary wall separating the Woodlands estate and Inchanga Road collapsed amidst the ongoing heavy rainfall and flooding in the area on February 27.
According to local resident, Jabu Banda, who witnessed the event unfold, the boundary wall of Woodland and a tree fell onto Inchanga road.
“As residents we have tried to remove the tree to help with the traffic flow. Luckily no injuries have been sustained so far.”
Motorists are advised to be careful when driving in the area or take alternative routes if possible.
Ward Councillor Mark Van der Merwe also confirmed that no injuries were sustained, and that only a car was damaged by the fallen tree and the wall.
“l have been informed that the Johannesburg Roads Agency(JRA) flood control is on the way to do a clean up.”

Fourways review reached out to Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department(JMPD) spokesperson superintendent Xolani Fihla, said, “I’ll have to check with units working in the area, and I’ll get back to you.”
