Sunshine returns to Johannesburg this weekend

Johannesburg residents can look forward to a warm and sunny weekend after flash floods left residents reeling.

Johannesburg residents can expect reprieve tomorrow following a few days of flash floods in multiple parts of the city, including Randburg and Fourways.

According to the South African Weather Service, temperatures will soar to 26ºC on Saturday and 28ºC on Sunday. While the weekend is forecast to be partly cloudy, residents will still be able to enjoy some warm weather until Monday.

The welcome change in weather comes after flash floods swept across Johannesburg, leaving a trail of destruction. Among the impacted areas was Randburg, which saw record amounts of rainfall on Wednesday, leading to the collapse of a wall in Randpark Ridge.

The Platina Bridge in Jukskei Park was yet another casualty of Wednesday’s heavy downpours, leaving water and electric cables exposed.
