Pop singer makes a living doing what he loves most
The Fourways singer feels lucky to live his dream of being a singer. He recently got down on one knee to propose to his now fiancé and shared his plans for the future as a husband.
As the wedding bells chime for Kyle September, the talented singer-songwriter from Fourways, his fans can’t help but rejoice for the love of his life.
But little do they know, his heart beats for two loves – his soon-to-be wife and his music.
September has been serenading audiences with his pop melodies and fans can’t get enough of his soul-soothing voice.
He said his love affair with music began before he even took his first breath. His father, a music enthusiast, would play guitar and sing to him while he was still in the womb. This early exposure to music sparked a passion that grew stronger with time.

Today, September’s music has a wide range of influences through his pop roots.
“I listen to a wide variety of genres and studied jazz vocal performance at university so there are subtle hints of wider influences but the basis is pop. Pop music, by definition, reaches the most people. There’s something special knowing your music can relate to many people.”
But what sets September apart from other musicians is his ability to craft songs that transport listeners to a world of escapism. He said his music offered listeners a place where worries faded away and the soul could breathe.

“My songs often feature escapism as a common theme. Music has a unique ability to transport people away from the real world, to a world with no problems. I want to help people escape from what troubles them, even if just for a moment.”
When asked what has been a highlight of his music career so far, September said a few years ago his answer would be quite different. But now the highlight and challenge are simply being able to do what he loves full-time and make a living out of it.
“Not many people are blessed enough to make a living out of what they love most. It’s endless hard work, and staying ‘gig-fit’ is a challenge that constantly gets tougher with age.”

As he prepares to flip to a new chapter of his life, he can’t help but tell his fans who are wondering what’s next for him.

“I’m getting married soon, so there won’t be time for new ventures right now. Collaborations of all sorts are next on the cards though. I want to explore other genres and work together with artists I enjoy who aren’t in my comfort zone of pop music.
“In my youth I was in a couple bands. There truly is a special bond that exists between those who create music together, it’s hard to describe.
“Sadly, I haven’t found the time to collaborate since, but I hope to change that in the near future.”
