City investigates water discharge after completing Inchanga Road repairs

Johannesburg Roads Agency has completed critical pothole repairs along Inchanga Road, while further steps are being taken to resolve persistent water issues affecting Duff Road.

Ward councillor Mark van der Merwe confirmed this week that all potholes below Randa Road, on Inchanga Road, have been repaired. “I’ve visited the site with our JRA ward inspector and ward manager to confirm the work was completed.”

Attention has now shifted to Duff Road, where water seeping onto the road surface continues to compromise infrastructure. “We’ve identified a complex that appears to be unlawfully discharging water into the road. JRA is investigating the matter further to take appropriate action.”

Uncontrolled water flow can lead to rapid deterioration of road surfaces, undermining even the most recent repairs. “If we don’t address the source of the problem, we’ll be back here again in a few months. We’re working to ensure that doesn’t happen.”

Van der Merwe urges residents to continue reporting any new potholes to JRA, along with water issues to Johannesburg Water, as enforcement and infrastructure repairs go hand in hand.
