4Paws rescues dog scalded with boiling water in Diepsloot

After being scalded with boiling water, a dog named Matladi was barely hanging on, until 4Paws rescued him. Now, they need your help to cover his vet bills.

Saving animals is what 4Paws does best, and in their latest heroic move, the animal rescue organisation has shared a heart-wrenching story of a dog named Matladi, who was brutally scalded with boiling water in Diepsloot Township.

According to Merinda Brits, from 4Paws: “Recently, we received a frantic call from a resident in Diepsloot Township. He explained that someone had poured boiling water on his dog.” The dedicated 4Paws team sprang into action, rushing to the scene to rescue Matladi.

When they arrived, they found the dog in agony, his body blistered and red, his eyes wide with pain and confusion. Without hesitation, the rescue workers wrapped him in a towel and rushed him to the vet.

At the vet, Matladi received urgent care, including sedation, wound cleaning, and fur trimming to allow air to reach the burns. “He was also given antibiotics and pain relief medication,” said Brits. The road to recovery was long, but, thanks to the tireless efforts of the 4Paws team, Matladi’s skin began to heal, and he was eventually ready to go home.

“This story serves as a reminder of the important work we do, and the many lives we save.”

However, 4Paws can’t do it alone. They’re calling on animal lovers to help cover Matladi’s vet bills and support their ongoing work in rescuing animals in need.

Founded in 2006, 4Paws has rescued countless animals in need. To support and contribute to the organisation’s lifesaving work, contact 083 377 3219 or email: merinda@4ourpaws.org.za.
