Fourways cleaner thankful for funds raised to help father battle skin cancer, but more is needed

Lovemore Robson has raised R8 500 for his father’s cancer battle, and he’s still cleaning Fourways streets to help. However, more is still needed to save his father.

Lovemore Robson is thanking the Fourways community for their incredible support after raising R8 500 on BackaBuddy to help his father, Eric, who has recently been diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer.

“I’m so grateful to everyone who has donated and supported my family during this difficult time. Every contribution brings us closer to covering hospital bills, treatment, and transport, and it gives us hope.”

Even amidst this personal crisis, Robson has continued his mission to keep Fourways clean. Through his Live Life Always Litter Picking Up Foundation, he has been cleaning additional public spaces, raising awareness, and encouraging the community to take pride in their surroundings.

“It’s been very hard, and this situation has affected me deeply, but knowing that the community stands with us makes a huge difference.”

Melanoma is a type of skin cancer that develops in the cells responsible for producing melanin, the pigment that gives your skin its colour. According the Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research website, it’s considered the most serious type of skin cancer because it can spread (metastasize) to other parts of the body if not detected and treated early.

“I was thinking of cashing out the money, so that it can help him in the meantime because he is suffering,” said Robson. “It has been two months, so what if it takes another two months? But I am willing to wait because it is better to help him all at once than by bit by bit.”

Robson was out and about this week cleaning Sunrise Boulevard in Pineslopes to keep it clean as usual.

He is targeting to raise R18 000. “Even if it’s R10, or R15… It counts. What I need is for my father to be okay and be treated before the cancer gets way too out of hand.”
