Hard work, dedication, and passion have paid off for HHMZ's dancers, now they’re raising funds to take their talent global.

Fourways-based dance group HHMZ, led by founder Simphiwe Nene, is celebrating a phenomenal achievement after securing gold in all 14 of its competition entries, earning qualifications to represent South Africa on international stages in Serbia and Ireland next year.

Following their back-to-back wins, the passionate team is now seeking donations and sponsorships to help make these dream trips a reality and showcase South African talent abroad.

“We competed yesterday and qualified for Serbia and just the week before, we also won and qualified for Ireland. We entered 14 items, and all 14 received gold,” said Nene.

“It feels amazing, the hard work has finally paid off.” He said the win did not come without any challenges but they soldiered on.

“We had students writing final exams, so we made a lot of changes but we glad it all came together.” Nene said they are looking to raise R50 000 per dancer to cover accommodation, admin fees, team uniforms, travel insurance, and transfers between hotels. When asked about how the team stay motivated and focused throughout both competitions, especially with back-to-back wins Nene said,

“It comes from seeing students loving to be on stage and they just couldn’t wait to perform and show what they had been working on.”

He said this trip matters the most because it is an opportunity for them to realise their dream of being overseas, but most importantly, to showcase their talent.
