JRA’s Operation Restore ends 3-year uneven road battle in Paulshof
The road received a fresh new look after years of uneven surfaces, with councillor Vino Reddy crediting Operation Restore for making it happen.
Residents of Paulshof can finally breathe a sigh of relief as major road rehabilitation work gets underway on Lembombo Road, a long-awaited fix to infrastructure challenges that have plagued the area for years.
Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), under its Operation Restore programme, has embarked on resurfacing and repairing sections of the road that had become severely damaged due to invasive tree roots and surface unevenness.

Ward 93 councillor Vino Reddy expressed his satisfaction with the progress, noting that the repairs come after years of continuous engagement with city departments. “The JRA team is working hard to restore the damage caused by tree roots, which led to major unevenness in the road surface.”
He explained that before resurfacing could begin, City Parks first had to cut and remove the problem roots to prevent further damage.
“The roots had to be carved out by City Parks, levelled, and now JRA is actually resurfacing the entire road.”

According to Reddy, the issue was first raised over three years ago by a concerned resident, whose persistence helped bring the matter to the city’s attention.
“We’ve been escalating and attending to this for over three years, since a resident first brought this to my attention. I’m so glad that the MMC’s Operation Restore has made this one of their key focus points.”
Reddy thanked JRA and the MMC for Transport Kenny Kunene for prioritising the project, highlighting that Operation Restore is already making a visible difference in improving road conditions across the ward.
“This initiative shows what can be achieved when departments work together with councillors and residents to identify and address long-standing issues.”
