Unity College rewards learners and welcomes 2026 prefects

Unity College honoured learners’ achievements at its 2025 prizegiving, recognising academic, social, and emotional growth while unveiling the school’s new prefects.

Unity College ended the academic year on a joyful and inspiring note as the school hosted its annual prizegiving ceremony at its sister school, Newton House.

The event was a celebration of the progress, achievements, and resilience shown by learners across all levels of the school.

Unity College principal Janine Singh said, following Unity College’s tradition, every learner received an individual award recognising their unique academic, social, and emotional milestones.

“These awards are central to the school’s philosophy, applauding progress in all its forms and honouring each child’s personal journey.”

Singh also shared insights into the purpose and meaning behind the ceremony, emphasising the school’s well-rounded approach to education. “This prizegiving was about celebrating every pupil’s progress. We want our learners to feel valued for who they are and for families to know how much we appreciate their support.”

Special awards were given to learners who showed remarkable improvement or outstanding excellence throughout the year.

She added that the awards reflect the school’s vision of developing well-rounded, confident learners: “Learning is not just academic; it includes emotional growth, resilience, independence, and compassion.”

Looking ahead to 2026, Singh highlighted key priorities such as strengthening personalised learning, deepening therapeutic support, and expanding community partnerships. “A major focus will be improving the school’s Vocational Training Centre, ensuring pupils gain practical skills that prepare them for meaningful job opportunities.”

A highlight of the ceremony was the election of the 2026 prefects, a group of leaders chosen for their integrity, empathy, and commitment to the school community.
