Lonehill Carols in the Park brings festive magic
This year’s Carols in the Park was more than just music under the stars; it was a fantastical event, raising funds for the Lonehill Dam and Park upgrade.
Lonehill Park came alive with festive cheer, music, and community spirit.
Residents gathered in their numbers for the much-loved Carols in the Park celebration on December 6, graciously sponsored by MTN National Wholesale.
Families, friends, and neighbours filled the park with picnic blankets, glowing lights, and Christmas joy to enjoy their vibrant suburb.

Speaking at the event, Shelley Miller, from the Lonehill Residents Association (LRA), confirmed that funds raised from Carols in the Park go directly towards upgrading the Lonehill Dam and Park. She said this forms part of the LRA’s ongoing efforts to maintain and improve shared public spaces for residents to enjoy.
“Carols in the Park started as a small gathering 16 years ago, and it has grown into a tradition that our community looks forward to every year. Our purpose has always been to bring people together, celebrate the festive season, and create a warm, inclusive space where families can make lasting memories.”

Miller paid tribute to the broader community. “We feel we’re the best suburb because we have the best community. We thank you for your continued support of the LRA and these events. It is what makes this community so very special. Nothing beats the spirit of Lonehill.”
Adding to the evening’s messages of goodwill, Alan Wilson, from MTN, addressed the crowd, highlighting the company’s pride in partnering with Lonehill for Carols in the Park 2025.

“We don’t have snow, we don’t have sleighs, we don’t have reindeers. What we do have is life, we have care, and we share community love. That is why it’s a real honour for us to partner with Lonehill. This is our way of giving back to the Lonehill community because you guys use our fibre.”
Wilson also highlighted MTN’s involvement in supporting local security infrastructure through the provision and maintenance of cameras in the area. He added that these cameras have already played a role in helping to apprehend alleged perpetrators before crimes could take place.
Ending on a festive note, he encouraged residents to embrace the season with kindness.
“In whichever way that you are going to celebrate this year, please show love, please show care, please show joy, and peace. So, from MTN to you, a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year.”
