Little Novaneers impress parents during vibrant school art expo
The learners from Nova Pioneer turned their classrooms into gallery-like spaces, proudly sharing their colourful creations with parents and friends.
Nova Pioneer in Paulshof re-opened their school holidays in style by welcoming parents into what felt like a mini art exhibition.
Instead of stepping into ordinary classrooms, parents walked into spaces made over by their children’s artwork during a Grade R gallery walk. The bundles of joy showcased paintings that captured everything they had explored in the last term, turning their lessons into living colour.
Kim Joslin, associate dean of the institution, couldn’t help it but beam with pride.
“What stood out the most today for me was seeing how energetic the parents were when they came in to see their kids’ artwork. It’s always nice to give parents an insight into what happens in the classrooms.”

The day was especially meaningful for teachers, who were at the heart of making it all happen.
Fortunate Madharia, a Grade 000 teacher, said: “As soon as the learners arrived, they dropped their bags to show their parents their artworks. It was so beautiful to see them so proud of the work they’ve done, and the reaction from their parents was priceless.”
Parents battled to hide their excitement as they walked through the gallery-like setup, taking in the displays that reflected their children’s hard work and learning throughout the term.
“It is such a great pleasure to just have a look at different posters and just see what our kids have been learning about,” said one of the parents, Chevra Nthite.
