SheerGuard SA joins Live Life Always foundation for Winnie Mandela Drive clean-up
Community volunteers spent the day cleaning the busy road with a sponsor from SheerGuard SA security company.
Plastic bags fluttered in the wind, litter lined parts of the road, and cars sped past as Lovemore Robson and his team got to work cleaning Winnie Mandela Drive.
Armed with black bags, gloves, and determination, members of the Live Life Always Foundation spent the day clearing waste from the busy route.
Robson said the clean-up was made possible through the support of SheerGuard SA, explaining that sponsorships play an important role in helping community organisations continue their work.

“Today we chose to clean Winnie Mandela Drive, because SheerGuard is sponsoring the clean-up.”
He said, while the foundation often carries out volunteer-led clean-ups, financial support from businesses allows them to expand their impact. “These days we don’t always have the capacity to clean on our own because we don’t always have businesses on board.”
Robson added that the foundation also hosts volunteer clean-up activities on Saturdays, even when there is no sponsorship involved. “The one that is upcoming this Saturday is not sponsored. It’s volunteer work because we really do prefer seeing Fourways clean.”
According to Robson, companies such as SheerGuard SA contribute a lot towards the clean-up operations, helping cover the costs needed to mobilise teams and carry out the work effectively.
“On this one, they are contributing financially and we are so grateful for that.”

He also encouraged more businesses to support community initiatives, saying partnerships between organisations and companies can make a meaningful difference in communities.
“Most of the companies, I approach them myself. I knock on the doors of businesses and ask if they can help us with donations and support. They do help us when we request.”
He said that support is not limited to financial contributions, as businesses also receive visibility and community engagement opportunities through the initiatives.
“We can put up gazebos and branding for them while we clean sections of the area.
Then we work together depending on the sponsorship and how many people we can put on the ground.”
