Johannesburg residents continue to face refuse collection delays

Residents in some Johannesburg suburbs may experience irregular refuse collection services as Pikitup says ongoing operational challenges continue to affect waste removal operations.

In a statement, the waste management entity of the City of Johannesburg said residents in affected suburbs may face delays in refuse removal while efforts are underway to stabilise and improve collection operations.


Pikitup appealed to residents for patience and understanding during the disruption period, adding that teams are working to address the challenges impacting service delivery.

Residents have also been encouraged, where possible, to make use of the entity’s waste disposal facilities for excess refuse and to refrain from illegal dumping.


The entity apologised for the inconvenience caused and assured residents that efforts are being made to restore normal waste collection services.
